Margaret Brenan Correoso

Margaret Brenan Correoso, Esq. has been practicing law for over 15 years. She became associated with the firm in August 2007, and became a named Partner in 2012. Ms. Correoso focuses her practice on appellate law and complex commercial and corporate litigation.

Ms. Correoso has briefed and argued over 100 criminal and civil appeals in the 5 Districts Courts of Appeal and Florida Supreme Court, including two successful enbanc cases before the Third District Court of Appeal. Robertson v. State, 780 So. 2d 106 (Fla. 3d DCA 2001), and Perez v. State, 781 So. 2d 1178 (Fla. 3d DCA 2001).

Ms. Correoso’s practice includes litigation, litigation support, first or second chair trial, and appeals in State and Federal courts. Recent cases include: non-jury trial and appeal in Oaks Square Joint Venture vs. U.S. Bank Nat’n Ass’n, 143 So. 3d 971 (Fla. 1st DCA 2014) (CMBS foreclosure of multimillion shopping center); American Worldwide v. Amedex Worldwide, 134 So. 2d 462 (Fla. 3d DCA 2014)(directed verdict upheld); federal jury trial in Peralta v. Greco Int’n Corp, No 11-cv-22224 (successful “0” verdict for employer sued by 5 employees).

In the recent years, her practice has focused on representing Lenders and Special Servicers in Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) actions involving multi-million dollar trusts; representing employers in Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) litigation in Federal Court; representing large and small corporations in ADA compliance action; setting up corporations and LLC’s; and other general commercial litigation. Ms. Correoso also has experience with dependency and juvenile trials and appeals, and currently volunteers for Pro-bono cases through the Guardian Ad Litem program.

Prior to entering the private sector, Ms. Correoso served as Senior Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge David M. Gersten and the Honorable Judge Rodolfo Sorondo; worked as an Assistant attorney general in the Miami Attorney Generals’ office, and as an Assistant district attorney for the Department of Children and Families.

Ms. Correoso is admitted to the Florida Bar, U.S. District Court, Southern District; U.S. District Court, Middle District, U.S. District Court, Northern District, U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit.
